The seaweed range.
So my skin has been a nightmare all year & I have really struggled to keep my oily T-zone under control. I decided that it was about time I should probably get myself a proper skincare routine because, well, let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger!
After my Clinique 3 step system failure (review here) I went back to the drawing board and asked my galpals for some more suggestions. I wasn’t blown away by anything that came up however I was also in the market for a good anti dandruff shampoo and have heard amazing things about the body shop ginger shampoo so whilst placing an order I had a look at their skincare products.
They have a handy tab on their website allowing you to shop by skin type so I clicked combination skin and was quite impressed with the selection and the product reviews (at the time of writing this each product in the seaweed range has a minimum of 4 stars however most are closer to 5).
I went to my local store during my lunch break and was over the moon to find out they also had 3 for 2 on the skincare products.
So, my verdict:
Seaweed oil balancing toner – £7.50
This is alcohol free and claims to purify and refresh. I was really impressed with this toner, firstly it smells lovely and secondly it removes ALL the grit! Even after washing my face with my usual face wash I then used this toner and was surprised by how grubby my face still was. It literally sapped every last bit of grit out of my pores leaving my face feeling tingly and squeaky clean. I have this next to my bed with some cotton wool pads and I use it before I go to sleep and when I first wake up to give me that fresh faced feeling.
Seaweed oil-control overnight gel – £14.00
This lightweight moisturising gel felt a little bit slimy when I first put it on but it sinks in to my skin really quickly. I put this on after using the toner before bed and in the morning my skin feels soft and shine free.
Seaweed pore-cleansing exfoliator – £11.00
I am not blown away by the smell of this product compared to the others in the range however I love the consistency and amount of jojoba beads in it is perfect for my face, it’s not to harsh but it really gets all up in there! It leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh and I use this every couple of days.
Seaweed oil Balancing clay face mask – £11.00
I have been using this twice a week and I just love the consistency and thickness of it, it definitely goes a long way! I also love the fact that it dries quickly and it doesn’t seem to crack or crumble too much if i’m moving around. I don’t think I will be wasting money on any other face masks in future as this has definitely helped to control my oily T-zone and curbed my breakouts!
Overall opinion: *****
I am actually really pleased that I stumbled across this range because I have noticed a huge difference in my skin after just a couple of weeks. My skin is far less oily (even in the 30 degree heat), it looks balanced and I am having less outbreaks which is always a bonus. I love my new skincare routine, it’ simple, quick and it doesn’t break the bank! I will definitely stick with these for a while.
Thank you Body Shop, you’re a real babe!
I have been looking into this for a long time! Do you think this will work if I have combination, sensitive skin??
